NPI Changes for Medicare Claims

 

Effective March 1, 2008 Palmetto GBA will reject claims that contain ONLY a PTAN in the billing and rendering provider fields (Also called “primary provider fields”).

 

  • If you have been submitting claims with your NPI and PTAN combination, nothing will change.
  • If you have not already begun submitting claims to Palmetto GBA with your NPI, these changes affect you.

Reminder:

Palmetto GBA began editing the NPI and PTAN combination for validity against the NPI Crosswalk file 10/2007.  If no match is found, claims are rejected.
